The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research leads ACU’s research intensification strategy and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the ACU Research Portfolio, including research and research training.
As Research Ethics and Compliance Officer you will:
- support the management and administration of a large committee comprising internal and external members across the University
- ensure that ethics applications are managed appropriately for all stages of their life cycle
- drive the development of policies, education and training in research compliance
- work collaboratively to help develop policies and processes to meet legal and best practice requirements in research ethics and integrity
- provide advice on the conduct of research, and support the management of complaints and investigations
- promote a culture of research ethics and compliance at ACU.
To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate:
- a degree with subsequent relevant experience in research management, particularly human research ethics and research integrity; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- a thorough knowledge of the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (desirable)
- a thorough knowledge of research compliance legislation and frameworks, particularly in the areas of clinical trials, institutional biosafety and export controls, and their implications for the conduct of research in the university environment (desirable).
- skills and experience in case management, or the investigating and resolving of complaints or grievances, preferably in a legal or academic setting (desirable)
- skills and experiencing in committee management and administration, including proficiency in minute taking (desirable)
- the ability to communicate with impact and collaborate effectively
- experience in planning work activity and prioritising time and resources.

Total remuneration valued to $103,133 - $111,620 pa, including salary component $87,149 - $94,321 pa Higher Education Worker Level 7), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
