I commenced my career as an academic and over the last decade I have successfully transitioned to senior leadership roles in research management at The University of Sydney. As Director, I led the Research Grants and Contracts team at the University of Sydney through four successive major grant rounds between 2013 and 2017.

More recently in my role as Executive Director, I have provided leadership in the development, delivery and championing of the University of Sydney's research strategy and developed implementation strategies for a number of internal initiatives. These initiatives collectively challenged current behaviours to optimise research performance and infrastructure support across the University, including optimising the delivery of core research infrastructure for research data storage, coordinating the enhancement and connectivity of existing and new systems that better identifying and developing thematic areas of investment, and establishing and implementing the University’s new indicators for aspirational research performance and identifying funding opportunities.

I have led multi-faceted teams and stakeholders to deliver large University submissions to government, including the 2018 Australian Research Councils Research Excellence in Australia (ERA) assessment and the companion 2018 Engagement and Impact (EI) assessment. In particular, my role in the University’s 2018 submission for Engagement and Impact involved extensive engagement with researchers, research support staff as well as external partners and stakeholders in industry, community and government in order to capture the economic, environmental and societal impact of research beyond academia. I was responsible for working closely with academics and their stakeholders to write case studies for health and medical research, interdisciplinary research and indigenous research.

I am committed to building and supporting organisational excellence, innovation and sustainable change to ARMS and higher education. I have a well-established track record of achievements in higher education, evidenced through the leadership of large diverse teams, successful delivery of strategic performance indicators, effectual management of resources and strong stakeholder engagement.
