Getting off on the right foot is so important at the start of a new research project. An efficient and effective communication stream between pre and post award is key for so many reasons, from understanding the application budgets to understanding milestones, and their relationship to payments. Setting up a meeting with the researcher is also essential so that everyone is clear of their obligations. 

This session will discuss the transition from pre to post award. 

SESSION PRESENTER(S):

Connie Killey
Group Manager, Research Accounting, Deakin University

Connie Killey is the Group Manager, Research Accounting at Deakin University. Connie has had almost 20 years experience in the tertiary education sector, and was previously the Director of Research and Revenue Accounting Services at Monash University. Connie is member of the ARMS Board, and serves as the Treasurer for ARMS. Connie has an MBA, and is a member of the institute of public accountants, as well as being a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is also a member of NCURA and an active participant in their Collaborate community.

Jacinta Smith
Mangement Accountant (Research), Deakin University

Jacinta Smith is the Management Accountant at Deakin University.  Jacinta has had 20 years’ experience as a Management Accountant/Financial Analyst and the last 7 years have been spent within Deakin’s  Research Finance Business Partnering Team and the DVCR Finance Team. Jacinta was a Deakin University Graduate, completing a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance and is a member of Certified Practising Accountants. Jacinta has been nominated for Vice Chancellors prizes and awards for outstanding contributions during Deakin’s Research transformational change. In 2019, Jacinta completed the Deakin Peoples Excellence program for Managers/Supervisors which included modules on collaborating, persuading, influencing and building a culture of continuous improvement. Jacinta has been responsible for preparing numerous ARC and NHMRC financial returns and annual HERDC returns.

CPD: Accredited members (ARMAs and ARMFs) will automatically accrue 1 CPD hour per session.

ARMS CANCELLATION POLICY

Should your circumstances change, and you are unable to attend this workshop, you must contact the arms.adminofficer@flinders.edu.au by no later than 10 working days prior to the commencement of the scheduled event. ARMS will refund the full registration fee minus any administrative fees.

Should you cancel less than 10 working days prior to the commencement of this workshop, no refund will be payable but instead you may wish to send a proxy.

ARMS reserve the right to cancel, postpone or re-schedule courses and events due to minimum numbers not being reached or for other unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of a cancellation, ARMS will aim to advise all participants in writing five (5) days prior to the scheduled event and will refund the full registration fee including administrative charges within 30 days after notification.
