SIG Event - online

The ARMS Research Impact Special Interest Group  (RI-SIG) will continue its monthly networking sessions in 2024, held on the last Thursday of each month from 12-1pm AEST/AEDT.

These sessions offer a chance to discuss current research impact issues and opportunities. This year, we'll mix it up with guest speaker sessions and open informal conversations based on various topics, encouraging our community to connect and share ideas.

In May we will be hosting an ‘Open Mic Night’! We invite members of the SIG to bring one or two slide presentations to let other SIG members know what you are working on.

We will also be welcoming our two new SIG Co-Convenors: Helen Slaney, Research Impact Manager at La Trobe University, and Julie Ward, Research Impact Coordinator at University of the Sunshine Coast.

Julie Ward has spent over 15 years in research administration, working across Universities, Hospitals, and Institutes. In her current role as Research Impact Coordinator at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in QLD, she is responsible for UniSC’s submission to the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking and all aspects of training and development for Impact.

For the past two years, Helen has been Research Impact Manager at La Trobe University, Melbourne. Prior to coming to Australia, she worked in research management at Roehampton University in London, where she assisted researchers to develop their impact case studies for the UK’s REF. Helen also spent 2020-21 setting up La Trobe’s Open Access repository, and has a particular interest in communicating research to broader audiences.

Please join us for an engaging discussion!
