Join us for this SA Chapter panel & networking event, focussed on diverse careers, and career pathways in research management!
The event will include a panel discussion featuring research managers from diverse backgrounds, followed by a morning tea and an opportunity to network.
For the first time, this event will be held at the new illustrious Flinders University Health and Medical Research Building (HMRB). Take a scenic trip up to the HMRB for an opportunity to take a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities following our event!

SPEAKERS:
Dr Melissa Gregory - Flinders University
Dr Melissa Gregory is the Research Development Manager within the Research Partnerships Team at Flinders University. She currently supports the development of large-scale research bids with industry, government, non-government and international partners.
Mel transitioned from a post-doctoral researcher at the Royal Adelaide Hospital into research administration 6.5 years ago, where she supported the development of ARC grants before moving into the Research Partnerships Team in 2022. The journey from lab bench to research office has provided opportunities to support researchers across all disciplines to build collaborations, secure funding and deliver impact.
Ms Maria Zollo - ARMS
Maria Zollo currently is the Chief Operating Officer for the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS), where she provides operational leadership and strategic support to the Board of Directors to drive the successful implementation of the Society's Strategic Plan. With over 30 years of experience in the higher education and not-for-profit sectors, Maria specialises in research management and operations with a strong focus on collaboration and effective team leadership.
Dr Patrick Allington - University of South Australia
Dr Patrick Allington is Manager, Graduate Research Development in the UniSA Resarch Office, supporting the provision of proactive, high quality research management and research support services. Patrick has a BA (Hons) and MA in Politics and a PhD in Creative Writing. He has held various roles in the higher education sector, the publishing industry and government, including two Royal Commissions; bringing a mix of teaching, research, editorial and industry experience to his role as Manager of Graduate Research Development. Dr Allington is also a widely published writer of fiction, peer reviewed scholarship, general nonfiction, and book criticism.

Kathy Mott has worked in health and medical research for over 20 years, in the private sector, with the higher education sector, at SAHMRI (South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute) and operating her own consulting company. Kathy has a track record in qualitative research, evaluation, business development, strategic planning, and project management. Kathy has extensive experience with "start-up" activity in research, specialising in planning, risk assessment and system development.
