USQ’s areas of research strength are both diverse and meaningful. To deliver high impact research, we have made significant investments in our research infrastructure. USQ’s Mt Kent Observatory is Queensland’s only professional research and teaching observatory and is playing a leading role in NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite program. USQ’s state-of-the-art Agricultural Science and Engineering Precinct plays a major role in research and development in crop protection, plant biology and biotechnology. We also have world-class facilities in hypersonics, advanced engineering and agricultural engineering and we are continuing to strategically grow our portfolio.
To coordinate and lead the University’s Research Infrastructure team within the Office of Research, we are now seeking a highly capable, forward-thinking individual who will ensure efficiencies, optimal usage and maintenance of research facilities and equipment. As the Manager (Research Infrastructure), you will play a key leadership role within the Office of Research with your initial priorities being to:
- lead the development of a strategic plan for growing the University’s research infrastructure portfolio;
- play a critical role in developing and implementing the University’s research WHS framework;
- in this, develop and deploy high quality research Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) training;
- lead a team of highly motivated professionals to deliver the University’s eResearch services.
Your outstanding relationship management skills will allow you to lead and work effectively with a team of professionals and provide strategic advice to key internal and external stakeholders.
Critical to your success in this role will be your superior leadership skills and management experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks and strategic plans. You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and an ability to successfully manage a high and constant workload. As a process-driven individual with a focus on research-related WHS, you will also be flexible in your thinking and be able to balance the necessary compliance requirements of the role whilst also empowering our researchers and students to undertake world-class research.
Whilst this role will be based at either our Toowoomba or Springfield campus, travel between both campuses will be required.

Salary: Total remuneration range $131,255 to $138,866 pa (includes salary range of $110,907 to $117,339 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
