The UTS Research Office is recruiting for two Faculty Research Engagement Manager’s to lead the development of strategies and implementation activities that generate an increased volume in research funding from industry, government and grant funding bodies, and where appropriate develops research translation opportunities that will deliver impact from research generated intellectual property (IP). One of the roles will support the Faculty of Science, with the other supporting the Faculty of Health.
Detailed Description
In support of our endeavour to undertake excellent research that delivers global impact, UTS is developing a culture of collaborative engagement between the faculties and the central research service units, between faculties themselves and externally through deliberate and strategic engagement with end users of our research. Part of this model includes the Faculty Research Engagement team and potentially other central research support staff being embedded within the faculties to extend and tailor the support provided by the Research Office to meet the needs of the faculties.
If successful in applying for this role, you will:
• Partner with faculty researchers and research teams on specific funding opportunities or competitive schemes to support applicants to submit high quality proposals, review draft applications and provide strategic and editorial feedback to enhance the competitiveness of the proposal
• Partners with the faculty in the design and lead activities to secure funding for major research initiatives such as ARC Centres of Excellence, Industry Transformation Research Hubs/Centre, CRCs/CRC-Ps, MRFF and similar programs, large research consortia and multi-party ventures
• Contribute to the development and implementation of competitive research grant funding strategies and programs to maximise the submission of quality project, fellowship, centre and infrastructure applications
• Work on projects within the research portfolio as required, and provide suggestions to enable the Faculty(ies) to meet their research funding and engagement and impact targets to be met
• Identify, develop and maintain relationships with complementary research organisations that may join UTS on research bids

Essential:
• Experience working in a university, research institute, or higher education setting
• Demonstrable experience in engaging with end-users of research
• Demonstrable relationship management experience
• Experience working with diverse teams to achieve desired goals
• Experience working in a high performing team
• Demonstrated expertise in building highly effective working relationships withresearch active academics and with external stakeholders, including an ability toexercise initiative, tact and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and confidentialmatters
Desirable:
• Relationships with key funders across the Category 1 – 4 spectrum
• Experience with reviewing and drafting licensing and/or contract research agreements, preferably with an understanding of Intellectual Property within a research and commercial environment.
Remuneration/Salary
Base Salary Range: $120,584 to $126,325 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis
