About the position

The Assistant Grants Advisor will work within the Research Grants and Development Office to deliver high quality services to researchers across the Institute, who are preparing applications to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)—a major national research funder.

This position will facilitate the grant application process and support the submission of highly competitive applications that meet all funding body and internal regulations. The role will also provide administrative assistance to the Research Grants and Development Office.

Up to two positions are available.

Selection Criteria

Education/Qualifications

1.  The appointee will have Graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience

Knowledge and Skills

2.  Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and the ability to anticipate future requirements.

3.  Well-developed problem-solving skills and initiative.

4.  Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as demonstrated customer service skills in liaising with stakeholders at a variety of levels.

5.  Ability to work under pressure while maintaining strong attention to detail.

6.  A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

7.  Proficiency in, but not limited to: Word, Excel, Chrome, Adobe Acrobat.

8.  Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

9.  Familiarity with NHMRC funding opportunities would be an advantage.

12.  Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.

13.  Ability to work as part of a team.

Terms of appointment

This position is available for three months in a casual capacity. Salary is CHEW 5 ($48.74)/CHEW 6 ($56.53). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
