Executive Director, Swinburne Research Office
I am an experienced research manager who has worked in the sector for over 18 years. My current role is Executive Director, Swinburne Research Office at Swinburne University of Technology where I have worked for almost 5 years. Previously I worked in senior roles at the University of Melbourne and Deakin University as well as the Victorian Government. My responsibilities have included government policy advice and program management, intellectual property management and commercialisation, grants and contracts administration, and research funding strategy and development, particularly with major research initiatives.
I have extensive experience in review and advice on legal agreements, contract administration, facilitating partnerships, collaborations and strategic research initiatives with other research organisations, government agencies and industry. My qualifications include a PhD, MBA, Masters of IP Law, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is an ARMS Accredited Research Manager (Advanced Level), ARMS Fellow and ARMS Training Fellow. This background well-positions me for a role on the ARMS Board.
I have extensive experience and engagement with ARMS since the early 2000s, serving in roles such as co-convenor of the Victorian Chapter, co-organiser of INORMS and ARMS conference, professional development and conference standing committees as well as the delivery of professional development workshops including ARMS Accreditation Modules.
I am passionate about the profession of research management. As research managers, we are critical to research which must occur effectively and with integrity. ARMS is the voice for our profession, and I look forward to serving it and our community in this role.
