Research development encourages academics and researchers to develop more advanced capabilities and formation of their identity as excellent researchers and research leaders.  Many research developers bring extensive research experience into their roles.  This provides very important credibility, but in itself, is insufficient to fully support the complex needs of the academic/research community as they continue to extend their research capabilities and strategies.  Research development roles also require the integration of higher education development strategies to ensure they are well positioned to be influential and well regarded.

This 2 hour workshop will explore some emerging trends in higher education development as they apply to research development. Drawing on Dr Debowski’s book: Developing Academics (Routledge), it will explore a range of strategies and models that will assist research developers in providing appropriate support to early, mid and senior researchers and research groups.

We highly recommend attendance of this workshop to all Research Management staff, new and experienced.
