ARMS Research Information & Reporting SIG Event
NTRO Community of Practice Webinar:
Navigating the complexities of research quality assessment in NTROsRecognising the lack of appropriate tools and metrics for assessing and rewarding research in the creative arts, humanities and social sciences, UNSW undertook a pilot project in 2018 to develop and implement discipline-appropriate measures, underpinned by rigorous, peer review, to incentivise and enhance the quality of research for practice-based researchers, and address institutional reporting and evaluation needs. The project’s aim was to harness existing research management systems to establish an assessment process for non-traditional research outputs (NTROs) based on global best practice in research performance measurement as set out in the Leiden Manifesto and the San Francisco Declaration (DORA). In this webinar, Vanessa and Jeremy will discuss the ongoing implementation of their process to assess the quality of NTROs at UNSW, and how that feeds into the preparation of their ERA submissions. UNSW achieved more ERA top ratings in broad fields of research than any other university in Australia.
