Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Throughout the year, ARMS accomplished significant milestones: - Successfully updated thirteen (13) Foundation Level modules, enriching their content and relevance.

Unveiled a new and innovative Foundation module 2.4: Navigating Agreements at the 2023 ARMS Conference, a relevant addition to the curriculum.
- Conducted fourteen (14) online modules, engaging and educating over 288 participants.
- Administered the FLAP case study twice with 41 participants in total.

Provided the Costing and Pricing of Research master class on four (4) occasions and the Fundamentals of Project Management master class seven (7) times, meeting diverse learning needs. This included hosting five (5) in-person master classes.
- Tailored the delivery of Project Management in Research Management specifically for Early Career Researchers, equipping this group with specialised knowledge and skills.

Enrolled eleven (11) new participants into the Established Level Accreditation Program.

FOUNDATION LEVEL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM |

Compulsory Online Modules: -
Registrations for all compulsory (online) modules are currently open (see details below).
- Participants are urged to register for and complete region-specific compulsory modules within twenty-eight (28) days of module commencement in Moodle.
- Compulsory modules available online via Moodle include:
- Module 1.1: The National Research and Innovation System in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore
- Module 1.2: Legislation as it Affects Research in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore
- Module 1.3: Understanding Research and Researchers

Previous registrants are encouraged to promptly complete any outstanding compulsory modules. The FLAP program allows registrants three (3) years from the initial module registration date to fulfil program requirements.

New Elective Module - Module 2.4: Navigating Agreements: A Guide for Research Management Professionals
In 2024 we expect a high uptake in our newest module on Navigating Agreements. The module takes a comprehensive review of the different types of agreements in research management and is intended to provide the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to understand the role of, and effectively manage, agreements in research administration across the research project lifecycle. The module also provides participants with an understanding of the different types of agreements used in research, the key components of an agreement, and the legal and financial implications of each component.

ESTABLISHED LEVEL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM |

|
|
In 2023, the Established Level Accreditation Program (ELAP) underwent its regular review process to ensure that the content of the program remains current and relative to those in middle to upper level research management. The extensive review included the Leadership, Management and Strategic Thinking Element as well as the program Electives. |
|

Leadership, Management and Strategic Thinking
We are now pleased to advise that in 2024 our Leadership, Management and Strategic Thinking Program which will be delivered by Dr Leslie Ashton, QuoVadis Consulting following a competitive tender process. A delivery schedule for this program will be made available in early 2024. Watch out for the website for latest details. Expressions of Interest
Prospective participants seeking enrolment in the ELAP can begin the process by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). The first round of 2024 ELAP applications will close 29 March 2024.

In the upcoming year, ARMS remains committed to offering its highly sought-after Master Classes focused on the Costing and Pricing of Research and the Fundamentals of Project Management. These comprehensive classes will span two (2) partial days, comprising concise 2.5 or 3.5 hour virtual sessions.
Registrations will open in March 2024, and the Master Classes are scheduled for delivery commencing in May.
Attendance and successful completion of the assessment for each Master Class will enable participants to accumulate CPD hours or accreditation points in the Established Level Accreditation Program. |

ARMS is currently seeking to expand its current pool of ARMS Training Fellows. These subject specialists will be provided the opportunity be deliver, and/or review, FLAP modules and or Master Classes. An Open Call for applications to become a Training Fellow is currently available on the ARMS website. |

The role of Training Fellow is a rewarding way to: - Hone your leadership skills;
- Actively contribute to the upskilling of our global research management workforce;
- Provide opportunities to engage with like-minded Research Management Professionals from across the broad geographical remit of ARMS;
- Apply for CPD hours as part of the ELAP;
- Receive an honorarium payment to recognise the time needed to prepare and deliver a workshop; and
- Help support your own professional development training needs.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT |
|
|
|
Ongoing Professional Development is mandatory to uphold accreditation at the Foundation (ARMF), Established (ARME), and Advanced (ARMA) levels. Accredited members must amass a minimum of sixty (60) hours within a three-year span from the point of accreditation.
Accredited members may lodge CPD applications, or view their current CPD, via their CPD Diaries in their member portals. |

An ARMS working party meets four (4) times a year to review and approve CPD applications that are not automatically approved as being ARMS events. Meetings are scheduled in March, June, September and December. Supporting Documentation
To ensure that CPD applications can be reviewed and approved please ensure that you provide, as a minimum, the following supporting documentation: - A details description of the activity. Weblinks, emails and brochures are acceptable.

Verification of attendance from your line supervisor or a certificate of completion/attendance. These can be uploaded to you CPD Diary.
Supporting documentation is not required for ARMS events where registration and attendance can be confirmed by the ARMS Executive Office.
Please also note that where an individual views a recorded session, CPD is not approved as the session can not be verified.
All accredited members are asked to regularly review the status of their CPD Diaries and ensure that CPD applications are lodged within twelve (12) months of the completion of an activity. Please see the ARMS website for further details on CPD. |
