Kirsty leads the Research Investments Office at Scion (New Zealand Forest Research Institute Ltd), a Crown Research Institute supporting innovation and growth from the forestry, wood product and wood-derived materials sector. She has spent time in research support roles in the University of Waikato Research & Enterprise team, and at the University of Oxford in the Social Sciences Divisional Research, Impact & Engagement team. Kirsty is an organisational representitve on the Impact Planning and Evaluation Network (iPEN). iPEN is a collaboration between New Zealand's seven Crown Research Institutes, promoting better impact planning and evaluation in the research, science and innovation system, focusing on developing capability across Crown Research Institutes and within Aotearoa.
Kirsty holds a PhD in Ecology from Lincoln Univiersity NZ and has worked in research roles in Charles University Prague, the University of Oxford, Royal Bortanic Gardens Kew, and Scion on topics including plant conservation assessment, invasive species risk modelling and forest ecology.
