Wade holds a PhD in Genetics and a graduate certificate in research commercialisation from Monash University. He has presented his research at both national and international conferences and has published his research in peer reviewed journals. After completing his PhD Wade made the transition away from the lab bench to research management. For almost 10 years Wade has worked in research management roles focusing on business development, grant management, and grant development . As an ARMS accredited research manager Wade is experienced in a range of areas across the entire breadth of the research funding lifecycle, from grant development and review, through to contract review and negotiation. Wade enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders on projects that make use of his broad range of skills and experience to make a real difference to researchers at all career stages, and the Australian community.
Presently, Wade is a Business Development Manager within CSIRO’s Data61 with a focus on analytics and decision sciences. In this role Wade supports researchers with expertise in AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Computational Modelling to identify opportunities for collaboration with Government, private enterprise, and industry to further the commercialisation of technologies that are underpinned by these expertise.
Wade joined the Victorian ARMS Chapter Committee in May 2023 with the motivation to support research managers who are early in their career. He has enjoyed working with the committee facilitating networking and professional development events for Victorian ARMS members.
