Have you been selected to present a poster at the upcoming ARMS conference, or do you want to learn more about crafting a poster presentation? Join this workshop to learn practical skills to convert your abstract into an effective poster. In this engaging session participants will learn:


•    Key factors to consider when designing a conference poster;
•    What makes a successful conference poster;
•    Strategies for creating an effective poster; and
•    How to prepare for presenting your research and interacting with attendees.

Ms Jodi McLean - Soil Cooperative Research Centre (Soil CRC)

Jodi McLean has tri-sector experience working within industry, government agencies and university, providing her with a unique understanding of each sectors’ needs and the ability to engage effectively with all. This has included working as industry-based researcher, recommending and monitoring research projects for funding organisations, supporting researchers to seek funding at a university, and teaching at TAFE across two states. Jodi has qualifications and formal training in science, agriculture, management, leadership, governance, training, assessment, and writing in plain English. For over 25 years Jodi has presented her research at national and international conferences and workshops via oral and poster presentations, including an ARMS conference. From this activity, Jodi has received a best poster prize and best speaker award. Jodi has also received two Vice Chancellors awards recognising her research administration skills, and two major national awards and an industry award for her cereal chemistry research. Currently, Jodi is the Chief Operating Officer at the Soil Cooperative Research Centre (Soil CRC) whose head office is based at The University of Newcastle. Jodi has been an active ARMS member since 2013 and joined the ARMS NSW Chapter Committee in 2023.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Jodie Richardson - University of Sydney

Jodie started her career in research with a PhD from the University of Sydney in Microbiology. She then became a research scientist managing mainly industry-based research projects spanning areas of Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture and Soil Science. During this time Jodie presented her research at several conferences; both through posters and oral presentations. 
Jodie has worked in Research Support since 2016 when she became the Manager of an ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub. In this role she also supported and advised students on producing conference presentations including posters. She then moved to Faculty based support roles at the University of Sydney, first as a Lead in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, then Research Support Manager in the School of Business and now the Research Manager in the Faculty of Science. Jodie has also been serving on the ARMS NSW Chapter Committee from 2023.


CPD: Accredited members (ARMAs and ARMFs) will automatically accrue 1 CPD hour for attending this session.
