Join this session where we’ll break down some of the best tips for collaborating with the community sector. What drives them? What do they need? And what’s in it for you?  

We’ll take you through some of the little known pots of gold that your researchers could be accessing, plus take all your questions on creating the relationships needed to support and manage community-led research.

Dr Hayley See

Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand

Hayley has enjoyed working in the research space for 15 years, with experience from the hospital clinic and laboratory through to the office administration desk. Hayley has a cell biology background in respiratory medicine (BBiomedSc (Hons) 2006 & PhD, UoN 2014) and more recently public health (GradDipPH, QUT 2018). Hayley leads the research team at the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand supporting projects and registries, award administration, and translating research into policy via evidence-based publications. Hayley is passionate about supporting the research community and provides a linking role in the establishment of strategic partnerships, delivery of advocacy, and liaison between the respiratory community and key stakeholders.

Ms Tanya Karliychuk

Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN)

As the Grants & Research Manager for a peak consumer body, Tanya is especially passionate about the important work achieved from community-sector research. 

Tanya’s career is a mix of the university and NFP sectors, having worked in research-related roles at various universities, delivering on government grants in the international development sector, as well as community sector grants for various volunteer projects.

Mr James Walsh

University of Technology, Sydney

James is a member of the Research Capability and Development team in the UTS Research Office. Since July 2017 James has been a member of the NSW Chapter of ARMS, and co-convenor of the Chapter committee since July 2020. 

Prior to joining UTS James worked in the University of Wollongong central research office, where he gained broad experience in pre- and post-award grants processes and in curating and delivering researcher development initiatives. Before that he held various positions in the academic, professional, and music publishing sectors, and as a freelance technical writer.
 


CPD: Accredited members (ARMAs and ARMFs) will automatically accrue 1 CPD hour per session.

ARMS CANCELLATION POLICY

Should your circumstances change, and you are unable to attend this workshop, you must contact the arms.adminofficer@flinders.edu.au by no later than 10 working days prior to the commencement of the scheduled event. ARMS will refund the full registration fee minus any administrative fees.

Should you cancel less than 10 working days prior to the commencement of this workshop, no refund will be payable but instead you may wish to send a proxy.

ARMS reserve the right to cancel, postpone or re-schedule courses and events due to minimum numbers not being reached or for other unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of a cancellation, ARMS will aim to advise all participants in writing five (5) days prior to the scheduled event and will refund the full registration fee including administrative charges within 30 days after notification.
