You will hear from researchers, industry partners and contract managers as to how they work contracts to be useful tools in a relationship with industry, not just a legal document.

SPEAKERS:
Dr Helen Barrie is a Senior Research Fellow and the Director of The Australian Alliance of Social Enterprise research concentration within the Centre for Markets, Values and Inclusion in UniSA Business.
Her research broadly investigates Australia’s changing population and the implications of this for society and communities. Much of this work involves an examination of population diversity; the interaction between people and the built environment; housing, community connectedness, and social networks. Dr Barrie’s most recent work explores how the built environment, especially green and public spaces, influence wellbeing and more specifically, ageing well. This includes exploring housing choices such as retirement village living, vertical communities, inner city ageing and international comparisons of age friendly and dementia friendly cities. Her research often includes innovative approaches such as citizen science, which is a feature of her current ARC Linkage Project that has cultivated Dr Barrie’s international reputation as a leading expert in this niche field that has promising policy, planning, industry, and service delivery outcomes.
Dr Barrie’s key focus since joining UniSA in 2020 has been the development and continuance of strong research partnerships across industry, not-for-profits, government, and academia. In that time, she has won research income valued at nearly $2m across all HERDC funding categories.
