PD Sessions @ Zoom

Time in AEST

Owing to the need to justify public investment in research, and for institutions to position themselves to vie for competitive funding, identify collaborations and recruit talent globally, significant efforts to evaluate research performance have proliferated among higher education institutions globally. Despite a bewildering suite of available tools and approaches, efforts are often criticised as being biased, inaccurate or otherwise inappropriate for appraising scientific research.

This concern is reflected in an emerging responsible research evaluation agenda which has been gaining traction globally through the spread of principles outlined in documents like the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment and the Leiden Manifesto. This session will introduce responsible research evaluation; explore how institutions are responding to this agenda; and introduce the SCOPE approach, developed by the International Network of Research Management Society’s Responsible Evaluation Group.
