Research Impact SIG Networking Session - Thursday 25 July 2024
The ARMS Research Impact Special Interest Group (RI-SIG) will continue its monthly networking sessions in 2024, held on the last Thursday of each month from 12-1pm AEST/AEDT.
These sessions offer a chance to discuss current research impact issues and opportunities. This year, we'll mix it up with guest speaker sessions and open informal conversations based on various topics, encouraging our community to connect and share ideas.
In July, we will be diving into the topic of ‘Information relations for social change: exploring the information behaviour of academics undertaking impact work'.
The increasing emphasis within universities on planning for and identifying the societal impact of research places new expectations on many academics. This impact work requires many to develop different knowledge, skills, and ways of working, that require new information and resources. In this presentation Joann will share findings from interviews with (27) researchers who are experienced in impact work. Joann has found that establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals and organisations outside the university provides a rich information environment, that enables academics to develop the understandings and skills needed for impact work.
Please join us for an engaging discussion!
