Victorian ARMS Chapter - End of Year Virtual Event

Members of the Victorian ARMS Chapter are warmly invited to join us for our virtual end of year event and celebration.
 

Date: Friday, 11 December

Time: 2-3 pm AEDT, followed by a one-hour AirBnB Virtual Tour (Please see details below.)
 

We will have presentations from:

Dr Amanda Caples, the Victorian Chief Scientist

Amanda will speak about the $620M Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) initiative. This initiative represents one of the largest investment programs in science and research capability by an Australian state government. Started in 2000, the STI Initiative focused on developing research infrastructure, building capability in priority industry sectors, and fostering the skills and the conditions for commercialisation. It was delivered through open, contestable rounds of funding with priority given to industry-led proposals.

Dr Saraid Billiards and Dr Marcus Nicol, from the Department of Health

Saraid and Marcus will discuss the process for establishing the next set of strategies and priorities for the Medical Research Future Fund.
 

There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentations.
 

Follow a Plague Doctor Through Prague

To end the year, we are offering registrants the opportunity to take part in a one-hour AirBnB virtual tour “Follow a Plague Doctor Through Prague”, for those who would like an on-line escape from the confines of Victoria’s long lockdown. In this tour a plague doctor will take you on the journey to visit the famous Charles Bridge, walk around the Old Town Square, and go into the Jewish Quarter, discovering hidden gems in the dark streets. You’ll stop by the old St. Francis hospital and conclude the tour at the convent of St. Agnes. So, not only will you traverse time, but you’ll also get the sense of travel—all from the comfort of your home.

The tour will run from 3-4 pm.
