This Master Class has been developed to provide participants with an introduction to the fundamentals of project management, and how these are implemented in a research organisation. The program takes an approach of describing project management activities for research management professionals and also provides information specific for the management of research projects and programs.
There are a number of research management roles within organisations who may be required to participate in, or manage projects. Some organisations will have dedicated project management staff, or in some cases a Project Management Office (PMO), however many organisations rely on other staff to design and deliver projects. These projects can range from the implementation of new systems (e.g., grants systems, publications, or analytics systems), new processes (e.g., impact reporting, internal grant processes, costing & pricing policies, and workflows), or the management of research projects or programs. While many research management professionals have relevant qualifications specific to their role, it has previously been challenging to find project management training which takes into consideration the specific requirements of the research environment. Over the past few years, the research management profession has been increasingly seeking project management training opportunities which are specific to the sector and this master class is the first step in addressing these training needs.
Who should attend?
The Master Class is not intended to be a formal project management qualification, rather it provides an introduction to project management for staff who are either involved in administrative projects or who are required to manage projects within their role.
The Master Class is primarily designed for those individuals engaged in administrative project management activities, however there are some parts of this program which are specific to the management of research projects or programs. This could extend to individuals who work in, but not limited to:

Pre-reading:
A link to the pre-reading material will be emailed to participants approximately four (4) weeks prior to the start of the Master Class.
Assessment:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be invited to complete a non-compulsory assessment; due two (2) weeks after receiving the link from the ARMS Executive Office.
Those participants who wish to enrol in a future cohort of the Established Level Accreditation Program (ELAP) are strongly encouraged to successfully complete this assessment as this will count as credit towards a future ELAP, provided enrolment commences by the end of 2022.
Accreditation:
The Master Class does not form part of the formal Foundation Level Accreditation Program (FLAP) and will not be considered for credit as part of the FLAP requirements. The Master Class will be considered as credit towards the ARMS Established Level Accreditation Program (ELAP).

INORMS Sister Associations via the INORMS Sister Association Reciprocal Benefit Scheme (ISARBS): $440 per Master Class (GST inclusive) - Required to contact the ARMS Accrediation Program Administrator to arrange registration.
Non-Members: $540 per Master Class (GST inclusive)
CPD: Accredited members (ARMAs and ARMFs) will automatically accrue 7 CPD hours for this Master Class.

Should your circumstances change, and you are unable to attend this workshop, you must contact the arms.adminofficer@flinders.edu.au by no later than 10 working days prior to the commencement of the scheduled event. ARMS will refund the full registration fee minus any administrative fees.
Should you cancel less than 10 working days prior to the commencement of this workshop, no refund will be payable but instead you may wish to send a proxy.
ARMS reserve the right to cancel, postpone or re-schedule courses and events due to minimum numbers not being reached or for other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a cancellation, ARMS will aim to advise all participants in writing five (5) days prior to the scheduled event and will refund the full registration fee including administrative charges within 30 days after notification.
