We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven and proactive individual to lead a team of highly motivated Research Contracts and Grants professionals within the Office of Research. As the Manager (Research Projects), you will be responsible for:

  • providing a high level of leadership and strategic oversight of the University’s management of research projects. This includes managing the business processes and workflows that underpin the University’s competitive research activities at pre and post award stages as well as research contract management;
  • developing strong networks and linkages with industry, philanthropic and government funding organisations; and
  • working collaboratively with the University’s research community to identify key funding opportunities and develop high quality submissions that support the strategic objectives of USQ’s Research Plan.

Your outstanding relationship management skills will enable you to work collaboratively with the University’s research community to identify key funding opportunities and develop high quality submissions that support the strategic objectives of USQ’s Research Plan. You will have extensive knowledge of and experience in competitive funding schemes and a track record in facilitating grant success. You will also have a demonstrated track record in the management of research contracts.

As the Manager (Research Projects), your initial priorities will be to:

  • contribute to the development of a strategic plan for attracting external research income;
  • develop and deploy high quality research grant and contract training; and
  • play a critical role in improving our workflows and processes with respect to the management of research projects, in particular the pre and post award management of grants as well as research contracts.

Key to your success in this role will be your superior leadership skills and management experience in overseeing grants and research projects. You will have relevant postgraduate qualifications and an ability to successfully manage a high and constant workload. As a process-driven and service delivery focused individual you will be flexible and able to challenge yourself and the team in order to achieve high quality results aligned with the goals of the University.

Whilst this role will be based at either our Toowoomba or Springfield campus, travel between both campuses will be required.

Salary: Total remuneration range $131,255 to $138,866 pa (includes salary range of $110,907 to $117,339 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
